Auto Refresh Page provides an advanced feature for users who want more control over the refresh intervals. With the “Show Longer Countdown” option, you can customize the countdown timer to display up to four digits, giving you a clear visual cue for when the next refresh will occur.

What is the “Show Longer Countdown” Feature?

This feature allows you to display a countdown timer on the browser icon, visible in the URL address bar. The timer counts down from the time you set, allowing you to track how many seconds are left until the page refreshes.

You can set the timer to refresh your page at intervals ranging from seconds to hours or even days. With this feature, you will be able to watch the countdown in real-time, all the way down to zero, just before the page reloads.

How to Use the Longer Countdown

  1. Set Your Refresh Interval:
First, specify how long you want the page to wait before refreshing (e.g., 60 seconds, 3600 seconds, etc.).
  2. Enable the Countdown Timer:
Open the Auto Refresh Page extension and checkmark the “Show Longer Countdown” option to display the countdown.
  3. Track the Countdown:
Once enabled, the countdown timer will appear on the browser icon in the URL address bar. It will tick down from your specified time (up to 9999 seconds, or about 2.5 days) to zero.

Examples of Countdown in Action

  • 60 Seconds: The countdown will show from 60, 59, 58… down to 0.
  • 3600 Seconds (1 Hour): The countdown will show 3600, 3599, 3598… down to 0.
  • 9999 Seconds (Approx. 2.5 Days): You can set a maximum of 9999 seconds, which will display on the icon for a long countdown.

Countdown Timer Display Limitations

If you set the refresh interval for more than 10 seconds, you will see the countdown timer count down from the last 10 seconds on the icon. For example, a 60-second countdown will show the last 10 seconds counting down (i.e., 10, 9, 8… until it reaches 0).

If the refresh interval is higher than 9999 seconds, the timer will still visually indicate the remaining time, though it will not display all the digits beyond 9999 seconds.

Why Use This Feature?

The “Show Longer Countdown” option is perfect for users who need to track longer refresh intervals and want to visually monitor the time left before the next refresh. Whether it’s for checking updates on a live page or simply managing time-sensitive tasks, this feature adds greater control and transparency to your web browsing experience.
